Title; HANDS Written By WANJA KIMANI Throughout the night, I kept hearing a voice in my head asking, “What do you have in your hand?” I remembered Moses in the Bible. He gave so many excuses to God, he was literally advertising his inadequacies. But God is full of mercy, and He wanted to show Moses that in our weakness we have a pillar that's Almighty!
God created us each for a specific purpose, but we face obstacles that are beyond us. Sometimes, despair and hopelessness make us limit ourselves especially mentally. Self-imposed obstacles are the worst because unless we ourselves break free from them, nobody else can liberate us. It is such obstacles that delude us and we find ourselves seeking better things elsewhere. In this context, the Middle East.
Facebook is interestingly good at keeping memories, so a post I uploaded 5 years ago came up. Allow me to quote part of it: “... Until we learn to work with what we have to achieve little by little, we'll always wallow in wishful thinking!” The particular time I saw this post, I felt something leap within me. Another wake-up call.
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. We always say that God will bless the work of our hands. Today He wants to know, what do you have in your hand? I have dared in Saudi Arabia, despite all the warnings I had heard before. I was determined to try and it wasn't long before I realized that Saudi Arabia is not a safe working environment especially for Kenyan women. My experience in Saudi Arabia has given me such determination and fearlessness that I don't fear failing, as long as I TRY and give my best in every initiative.
Now that I'm home, I want to try everything I can and focus on succeeding and thriving, right here, at home! I have tried a lot of things before, now is the time to try those things again! I now know that half a dollar in Kenya is way better than 50 in Saudi Arabia. It may be less at face value, but it is more secure.
I was handed over abroad through underhand dealings, but now it's time to work with what I have. As small as it is, it will come in handy and pay off handsomely, eventually. What do you have in your hand? Even if you have nothing, thank God you have the hands! #VOOACADEMY #TUMECHOKA
